Lahore: The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Monday granted former Pakistan PM Imran Khan protective bail in a case linked to violent protests outside Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) office after he was disqualified in the prohibited funding case last year.
Another case is pending against the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief, who was ousted as PM through no-confidence motion in the National Assembly last year.
There was massive drama over his in-person appearance at the court as hundreds of PTI supporters and lawyers assembled outside the Lahore High Court, chanting slogans in support of the cricketer-turned-politician.
Imran finally made his way into the courtroom after an hour-and-a-half wait outside, Dawn reported.
TV footage showed Imran’s convoy being showered with rose petals as it made its way towards the high court, surrounded by a large number of party supporters.
