Sundargarh: The district administration on Thursday announced that the religious institutions and places of worship will be reopened on January 9.
Sundargarh Collector Nikhil Pavan Kalyan informed this on Thursday. The administration took the decision after examining the ground situation of COVID-19 and consultation with temple management committees and other stakeholders.
It may be noted that all the temples in Odisha had remained closed for nearly 10 months following COVID-19 pandemic and resultant lockdown.
Following reopening of Jagannath temple in Puri and Lingaraj temple in Bhubaneswar last month, the religious institutions across the state have been reopening to allow the devotees to have darhsan of the deities inside in strict adherence to COVID-19 guidelines.
The religious institutions in Cuttack were also allowed to open on Thursday.
