New Delhi: Republic Day celebrations will now begin a day earlier from January 23 to include the birth anniversary of Subash Chandra Bose, ANI quoted government sources as saying.
This is in line with the government’s decision to celebrate and commemorate important aspects of India’s history and culture.
Netaji’s birth anniversary is also being celebrated as Parakram Divas.
On Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had informed that December 26 would be marked as ‘Veer Baal Diwas’ as a tribute to the four sons of Guru Gobind Singh, starting this year.
Similarly, August 14 will be observed as Partition Horrors Remembrance Day, October 31 as National Unity Day (birth anniversary of Sardar Patel), November 15 as Janjatiya Gaurav Divas (Birsa Munda’s birth anniversary) and November 26 as Constitution Day, every year.
