New Delhi: One employee at Maruti’s Manesar plant and three employees at Hyundai’s Chennai plant have tested positive for coronavirus.
There is a possibility of a second case at Maruti, and test results of 16 workers from Hyundai are awaited, Reuters reported.
Maruti had started factory operations in early May.
This brings up the risks and challenges in restarting the economy after a two-month lockdown.
Hyundai restarted operations on May 8. The three employees showed mild symptoms of cough and cold in the first week and the test results found them to be corona positive. The company claims contact tracing, self-isolation and complete sanitation are being carried out.
Hyundai is sanitizing the parts of the plant accessed by these employees and the process generally takes 3-4 days.
