New Delhi: Every Indian household felt the pinch in the last few months as prices of vegetables and other food items went north. The result was predictable, in terms of inflation.
Retail inflation jumped to a 15-month high of 7.44% in July, reported PTI.
According to official data released by National Statistical Office (NSO)on Monday, Consumer Price Index (CPI)-based inflation jumped from 4.87% in June to 6.71% in July.
High inflation of 7.79% was previously recorded in April 2022.
The inflation in food basket was 11.51% in July, compared to 4.55% in June and 6.69% in July 2022, as per data made available.
The retail inflation in vegetables year-on-year was 37.43%, while rate of price rise in ‘cereals and products’ was 13%.
