Bhadrak: Former Chief District Medical Officer (CDMO) of Jajpur, Raghunath Padhi, was allegedly stabbed multiple times by unidentified miscreants at his residence at Charigharia under Bhadrak Town police limits early on Friday.
Padhi, who sustained critical injuries in the attack, has been admitted to district headquarters hospital for treatment.
According to sources, the incident took place around 4.30 am when the retired physician was going into the puja room and loitering shadow pounced on him as he cried for help. He was stabbed in the abdomen, thigh, chest and hand. The stabbing is being suspected to the result of a failed loot bid.
A neighbour said that there were similar loot attempts earlier and gold jewellery worth over lakhs of rupees was looted from his house in October this year.
