Revenge Tales: Another Odisha Man Takes Parcel Bomb Route
Rourkela: Punjab police claimed to have cracked the Moga parcel bomb blast with the arrest of Rajbir Rajeana from Odisha’s Sundargarh district.
The prime accused was reportedly nabbed from Basanti Colony in the Steel City of Rourkela.
According to Ferozepur Range IG Mukhwinder Singh Chhina and outgoing Moga SSP Gurpreet Singh Toor, Rajbir sent the bomb by courier to eliminate his cousin, Bhupesh Rajeana, a resident of Sangrur, over a property dispute.
On September 26, the low-intensity bomb exploded at a courier office in Moga of Punjab. The courier shop owner, Vikas Sood, and a customer, Rakesh Kumar, were injured in the mishap.
A case was then registered under Sections 307, 427 and 120-B of the IPC and Sections 3 and 4 of the Explosive Substances Act on the basis of Sood’s statement and a Special Investigation Team (SIT) constituted.
During investigation, Bhupesh identified Rajbir as the man who had deposited the parcel in the courier firm’s office from the CCTV footage shown to him. He told the police that Rajbir had visited Sangrur earlier this year to settle the property dispute, but failed to resolve the matter.
A police party was then sent to Rourkela and Rajbir arrested on October 2 with the help of the Punjab State Intelligence Wing and the Sundargarh district police.
The cops brought him took him back to Moga on Thursday night and produced him before a local court, which remanded him to five-day police custody.
A professional photographer, Rajbir chose Moga to despatch the courier as he lived here a few years ago, police sources said.
He was reportedly inspired by the Patnagarh parcel blast case, which had shook Odisha earlier this year.
