Gopalpur: Another Army man was arrested by Haryana Police in connection with Rewari gangrape case from Odisha’s Gopalpur on Tuesday.
He was identified as Naveen, a native of Nuagaon village in Mahendragarh district of Haryana. He was undergoing training at Golabandha Army Air Defence College at Gopalpur.
He is the fourth accused in the case.
Local SDPO Ashok Mohanty said the Indian Army had directly handed over Naveen to the Haryana Police.
Though police did not disclose the exact charge for which Naveen was arrested, they confirmed that he was also present in the tube well room where the incident allegedly took place.
On September 23, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) had arrested prime accused Nishu, Army jawan Pankaj and his friend Manish in connection with the case.
The incident was reported from Mahendergarh’s Kanina in Haryana, where the trio allegedly abducted, drugged and gang-raped the 19-year-old girl when she was on her way to coaching classes.
Although the FIR mentions three persons as the accused, the survivor’s father said eight or 10 men may have raped her.
According to reports, 10 teams have been formed to nab those involved in the incident.
