Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Vigilance sleuths on Saturday apprehended Revenue Inspector (RI) of Bileipada under Barbil Tehsil in Koenjhar district, Meer Md. Khan, while allegedly accepting Rs 20,000 bribe.
According to an official release, the RI had demanded the illegal gratification from a complainant to submit verification report in a mutation case and for issuing record of rights. The entire bribe money was recovered from him and seized.
Following the trap, simultaneous searches are on at three locations linked to Khan to ascertain whether he had accumulated assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
A case under Section 7 of Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018, has been registered in Balasore and further investigation is on, it added.
