Puri: The rice collected by “Arpan Rath” was used for preparing prasad in Jagnnath temple of Odisha’s Puri and distributed among the devotees on Sunday.
Several delicacies of prasad including ‘Khechudi’, ‘Kheer’ and ‘Kanika’ were prepared from the rice collected by Arpan Rath for “Parikrama Prakalpa” (heritage corridor) project around Jagannath temple. The prasad was offered to the Lords as ‘Kothabhoga’ during the “Sakala Dhupa” morning puja.
Laters, the prasad was distributed free of cost among the devotees. Long queues of devotees were marked at north, south and western gates of the temple where the prasad was distributed.
Around 100 pots of prasad were prepared from the rice collected from Ganjam district on the first day. Such prasad will be distributed from afternoon to 8 pm.
It may be noted that Arpan Rath (chariot for offering) had moved around the state before the inauguration of heritage corridor project. These chariots had collected rice, coconuts and betel nuts from the devotees. The offering was supposed to be used in the yajna of the project inauguration.
