Puri: The Indian Railways on Sunday launched 14-minute “miracle cleaning” of Vande Bharat Express train at Odisha’s Puri railway station.

The Railways started the miracle cleaning exercise in 29 railway stations in the country including Puri, Anand Bazaar in New Delhi, Chennai and Siridi on the day. It aims at providing faster services to the passengers of the Vande Bharat Express.

The team of sanitation workers, under the supervision of divisional railway manager (DRM) HS Bajwa, started the cleaning exercise soon after the arrival of the Howrah-Puri Vande Bharat Express at the coaching depot in Puri. While 3 workers went inside each of 16 coaches of the train, two remained outside to help them.

“The workers completed the cleaning of the entire train within 14 minutes. Earlier, it used to take 45-50 minutes to clean the train. It is part of cleanliness drive of the Ministry under the Swacchata Abhiyan of the Centre,” said Bajwa while speaking to the media on the sideline of the exercise.

He further said the exercise will be further streamlined after taking the opinion and suggestions of the passengers in future. The sanitation workers, who have been trained in cleaning of the trains, will be further given training, if necessary, he added.
