Bhubaneswar: Train services on Khurda-Visakhapatnam section were disrupted for over 7 hours as the engine of a goods train jumped the track in Odisha’s Ganjam district on Thursday.
According to sources, the goods train carrying the minerals from Daitari mines in Keonjhar district was going towards Visakhapatnam. As the train reached Kumarbegpalli under Chhatrapur block of the district, its engine went off the track at 9.20 am.
On being informed, two teams of the Railways from Khurda and Palasa in Andhra Pradesh rushed to the spot. The teams including the mechanics took more than 7 hours to put the engine back on the track and the train resumed its onward journey.
Several trains were detained or postponed at Visakhapatnam station during till the track was reopened to train movement in the afternoon, the sources said.
