Road Rage: Delhi Cabbie Assaulted, Shot Dead In Front Of Bystanders
New Delhi: A cab driver, Shakib, in Delhi’s Kodia Pul-Chatta rail crossing, was assaulted, stabbed and shot dead by a group of men in front of a large crowd after his vehicle hit an e-rickshaw accidentally. Shakib was dropping off a passenger before heading home to have a late dinner with his wife when he hit an e-rickshaw near Red Fort, The Indian Express reported.
Soon, three passersby stopped and confronted him over the accident. Over the next 20 minutes, the 36-year-old man was dragged out of his WagonR, repeatedly assaulted and stabbed, before being allegedly shot dead.
The police said that a huge crowd gathered during the assault but no bystander intervened or called the Police Control Room (PCR) when a crime occurred, the report said that authorities only received information about the incident after the victim was taken to Lok Nayak Hospital. The suspects are still at large, and their identity remains unknown, according to the police. Shakib managed to grab hold of one of the persons, the assailant then pulled out a firearm and shot Shakib and the minor who was present at the spot and is an eyewitness to the incident. Both victims were rushed to the hospital by passersby,” the publication quoted DCP (North) Manoj Kumar Meena as saying.
