Road Rage: Delivery Man Beaten To Death In Delhi
New Delhi: In a shocking case of road rage, a 39-year-old delivery worker was beaten to death at Delhi’s Ranjee Nagar.
Police said Manish Kumar (19) and Lalchand (20) have been arrested for allegedly thrashing Pankaj Thakur during an argument over not clearing the way for a car.
Cops found Thakur lying unconscious in an alley near Ranjeet Nagar Main Market late on Saturday night, with his scooter next to him.
Local residents rushed him to a hospital where he was declared brought dead. There were several injury marks on Thakur’s body.
The documents he was carrying helped police in identifying Thakur. He worked as a helper in a shop and home-delivered groceries.
He is survived by his wife, a son and a daughter.
While scanning CCTV footage in the vicinity of the incident, police spotted two men getting out of a cab, arguing with Thakur and then beating him to the extent that he collapsed to the ground unconscious.
Tracking down the cab using its number, the accused were identified. When cops reached their homes, the duo had fled.
A massive search operation was launched, following which the two were arrested on Sunday.
The accused told police that they were driving though the alley when they saw Thakur standing in the way with his scooter. They asked him to give way, which led to an argument and then an altercation. The two young men got off the car and pushed Thakur’s scooter, leading to a fight. As Thakur collapsed, Manish and Lalchand fled the spot.
