Cuttack: In an awareness drive as part of National Road Safety Month, Cuttack Traffic Police on Tuesday distributed helmets to children for their safety.
Cuttack DCP Prateek Singh and traffic cops presented helmets to kids who were seen going with their parents at different junctions of the city.
On Monday, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had urged everyone to follow the road safety rules in true spirit and spread awareness to protect precious lives.
Twin City Police Commissioner Sudhanshu Sarangi had called upon the people to shun vehicles and opt for bicycles during the inauguration of he month. He also said that concerted efforts will be made to reach out to the masses in large number during this month-long campaign for creating awareness on road safety norms and traffic rules.
During the National Road Safety Month, awareness about the causes of road accidents and measures to prevent them will be highlighted by organising various activities across the state. The drive will continue till February 17.
