Road Safety: Owners Of Odisha School Vehicles To Face Action For Mishaps
Puri: The District Transport Authorities recently held a meeting with school authorities, vehicle owners, parents and traffic police here to spread awareness about accidents caused due to overloaded school transport vehicles and negligent drivers, .
In the meeting, Regional Transport Officer SK Dalai warned the school authorities and vehicle owners about stringent legal action against them in case of a mishap.
The RTO officer made it very clear that school vehicles including buses, vans and auto-rickshaws can carry students only within their prescribed capacity. Documents such as fitness, road permit, and insurance, driving license and control certificates of the vehicle concerned need to be produced before the RTO as soon as possible.
Private schools that provide their own transport vehicles to students need to submit the required documents to the RTO within a week.
Traffic inspector GR Dash, District Education Officer Niranjan Sahu and block education officer Mamata Mishra were also present at the meeting.
