Kendrapada: Armed robbers looted cash and gold ornaments from a house after threatening the family members at gunpoint at a village in Odisha’s Kendrapada district.
The incident reportedly took place at Angarakh village under the jurisdiction of Aul police station in the district on Wednesday night.
As the masked robbers attacked the family members with sharp weapons, two persons, identified as Prabhakar Pradhan and his daughter-in-law Anusmita – sustained grievous injuries.
Sources said around dacoits with guns and sharp-edged weapons entered Prabhakar’s house in the night and attacked him and his daughter-in-law. After terrorising the family members with guns and other weapons, the miscreants looted cash and gold ornaments worth over Rs 5 lakh from the house by breaking the lockers of three almirahs.
On being informed, a team from Aul police station visited the spot and started an investigation into the incident.
The injured persons were sent to hospital for treatment and their condition is stated to be stable.
