Balasore: Unidentified armed miscreants allegedly looted gold ornaments from a jewellery shop owner in Nilgiri area of Odisha’s Balasore district.
As per preliminary information, the incident took place at Santaragadia Square under the jurisdiction of Nilagiri police station in the district on Wednesday night. The jeweller was robbed of gold ornaments worth lakhs by four men.
Sources said the incident occurred when jeweller Krupasindhu Rana (52) was proceeding to his hose after closing his shop. The robbers, who appeared on two motorcycles, intercepted Rana, threatened him with a gun, and snatched the bag containing gold ornaments from him.
Though the robbers allegedly fired some shots, the jeweller escaped unhurt.
On being informed, a police team visited the scene and started an investigation into the incident.
