Mumbai: Indian Test and ODI captain Rohit Sharma and his wife Ritika Sajdeh were blessed with baby boy on Friday night.
The baby was born at a local hospital, TOI reported, quoting sources.
The couple already has a daughter Samaira, who will turn six on December 30.
Congratulating Rohit, India T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav wrote: “Many, many congratulations to him and his family. It’s the best news on a perfect day.” He was referring to India’s T20I series triumph against South Africa in Johannesburg on Friday.
Notably, Rohit had taken took a break from cricket for the birth of his second child and didn’t travel to Australia with the rest of the Indian squad. There was uncertainty over his availability for the first Test match in Perth, but he might soon depart for Australia with the earlier-than-anticipated birth of his baby boy.
Head Coach Gautam Gambhir had earlier expressed hope for his availability.
The first Test of the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy series against Australia will start in Perth on November 22.
