Mumbai: Priyanka Chopra will be attending the Royal Wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle on May 19, but she will not be the bridesmaid.
Clearing the air, Priyanka, in an interview to People.com confirmed that she will not be the bridesmaid in what is being touted as ‘Wedding of the Year.’
Priyanka is a close friend of Meghan and a lot of photographs of them have been doing the rounds in social media, prompting rumours that Priyanka might be the bridesmaid.
“I’m super excited about her and her big day. It’s not just going to be life-changing for both of them, it’s life-changing for the world that needs to see strong women as icons, and I think Meghan has the potential to be that,” Priyanka said in an interview to People Magazine.
The two actors, who are also vocal supporters of women’s issues, met at the annual ELLE event. Both of them are involved in humanitarian work.
Priyanka has often spoken about her friendship with the ‘Suits’ actor. When Meghan appeared on the list of Time Magazine’s Most Influential People, she wrote, “Meghan, standing shoulder to shoulder with Harry, will be a princess for the people.”
On the work front, Meghan called in quits from television show ‘Suits’ ahead of her wedding with Prince Harry. In the finale episode, Meghan’s character ‘Rachel Zane’ married her love Mike Ross, played by Patrick J Adams.
