Bhubaneswar: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) questioned three drivers including senior IAS officer Bishnupada Sethi’s driver in connection with Rs 10 lakh bribery case in Bhubaneswar.
The CBI had summoned Sethi, who is serving as Principal Secretary in SSEPD department of Odisha government, his driver Nrusingha and two others to its office in Bhubaneswar on Saturday in connection with investigation into the case.
Speaking to media after questioning, Nrusingha said the CBI officials asked him several questions about the activities of Sethi. “They asked me where sir (Sethi) was on the evening of December 7. Which places he visits after office hours and who are the people he interacts with,” he said.
Claiming that he answered all the questions posed by the CBI sleuths honestly, Nrusingha said he had nothing to hide as he was not connected to the case in any way.
The summons were issued after the arrest of three persons on December 6 in Bhubaneswar over seizure of Rs 10 lakh. The arrested persons are Chanchal Kumar Mukherjee, Group General Manager of CPSU Bridge and Roof Construction Co (India) Ltd, contractor Santosh Maharana and super-class contractor Debdatta Mahapatra. The three are currently in remand for further interrogation by the CBI.
The investigation has also led to suspected involvement of Sethi’s drivers.
