Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Monday announced a development package worth Rs 1,100 crore for poll-bound Nuapada in Odisha.
The development package included inauguration of 109 completed projects worth over Rs 64 crore and another 39 new projects worth Rs 159 crore for which foundation stones were laid. Irrigation projects, aimed at benefiting farmers in the region, totalled Rs 82 crore. “Giving utmost importance and honouring the long-standing demands of our farmer brothers and sisters, projects worth over Rs 802 crore have been announced solely for irrigation,” the CM said.
He also declared municipal status for Khariar Road and NAC (Notified Area Council) status for Komna and Sinapali.
The CM further announced opening of sub-registration Offices in all tehsils of the state for administrative convenience. “In the first phase, this service is starting from today in Sinapali, Komna, and Boden tehsils of Nuapada district,” he said.
Recalling his earlier visit in April during the Maraguda Mahotsav, when he had inaugurated projects worth Rs 320 crore, Majhi said his government is committed to development of Nuapada. “Although the undivided Kalahandi and Nuapada district regions experienced regional disparities in the past, we are now providing equal importance to all regions of the state. Our double-engine government will always stand with you. My doors will remain open for every resident of Nuapada,” he assured.
Earlier in the day, the CM, through a post on X, said that his government has always prioritised public welfare and development. He further stated that the developmental projects for Nuapada will bring significant progress in sectors such as agriculture, education, health, and rural development, while ensuring improved connectivity, local employment generation, and enhancement of living standards. “Committed to inclusive and comprehensive development, our government is dedicated to serving the people of Odisha and building a prosperous Odisha,” the post added.
The Election Commission of India (ECI) is likely to announce the schedule for the bye-election to Nuapada along with dates for Bihar legislative assembly polls at 4 pm.
