New Delhi: Bollywood actress Jacqueline Fernandez was on Wednesday grilled for nearly eight hours at Delhi Police’s Economic Offences Wing in the Rs 200-crore extortion case involving conman Sukesh Chandrasekhar.
The Sri Lankan actress joined the probe after being issued a third summons. She was accompanied by Pinky Irani, who was allegedly paid crores of rupees to introduce Jacqueline to Sukesh.
India Today reported quoting sources that Delhi Police has found inconsistencies in the responses of Jacqueline and Pinky. Both are likely to be summoned again.
It was learnt that Jacqueline and Pinky’s statements were initially recorded separately, before they were brought face to face for questioning.
Another Bollywood actress Nora Fatehi was questioned earlier this month in connection with the same case and her statement recorded.
Enforcement Directorate officials, who questioned Jacqueline thrice, have claimed that Nora and Jacqueline received luxury cars and other expensive gifts from Sukesh, who is in jail. He is accused of cheating several high-profile individuals, including former Fortis Healthcare promoter Shivinder Mohan Singh’s wife Aditi Singh.
Last month, ED filed a chargesheet naming Jacqueline as an accused in the case linked to Sukesh.
