Keonjhar: A Detailed Project Report (DPR) worth over Rs 215 crore is being prepared for integrated development of Ghatagaon Maa Tarini Temple, Chief Minister Mohan Majhi informed during his visit to the shrine in Odisha’s Keonjhar district on Monday.
“The groundbreaking ceremony will be conducted once the DRP gets the go-ahead and work will begin on the project for which provision has been made the state Budget. Maa Tarini holds a sacred place in the hearts of millions of Odias. The temple will be developed as a major spiritual destination,” he told reporters.
This part of the the BJP government’s commitment to preserving and promoting Odisha’s rich religious and cultural heritage.
In March, the Odisha Bridge and Construction Corporation (OBCC) invited tender for the project. The deadline to complete all the work as part of the tender is two years.
Besides restoration and beautification of the temple and its peripheral areas, the DPR will include development of approach roads, parking facilities, lighting and sanitation. A major feature of the project will be a three-storey pilgrim centre with 250 beds for devotees. A market complex will also be built to accommodate traders, selling of coconuts and puja items in front of the shrine. An information centre, food plaza, new toilets, cloak room and shoe storage are also being planned.
These apart, two ticket counters, a rest house for drivers, new queue viewing system, a pond, two welcome gates and hands and feet washing points will be developed.
