Baliguda: Panic gripped Baliguda town in Odisha’s Kandhamal district after an RTI (Right to Information) activist was shot dead early on Tuesday morning.
The deceased has been identified as Abhimanyu Panda.
According to sources, the RTI activist was standing in front of his house at Patra Sahi when two miscreants came on a motorcycle and opened fire on him.
Panda, who was hit in the chest, was rushed to Community Health Centre (CHG) at Baliguda where doctors pronounced him brought dead.
On being informed, police rushed to the spot and seized a blank cartridge near the house of the deceased.
A manhunt has been launched to nab the assailants, the sources added.
