Bhubaneswar: In order to give a fillip to the drive of the Election Commission of India (ECI) to link Aadhaar number with the Electors’ Photo Identity Card (EPIC), a ‘Sachetanata Rath’ (awareness vehicle) was rolled out in Odisha capital on Sunday.
Additional District Magistrate, Khurda and Sub-Collector, Bhubaneswar flagged off the ‘Sachetanata Rath’ which will move across three urban constituencies of Bhubaneswar sub-division appealing to the electors to voluntarily link their Aadhaar with EPIC.
In order to encourage the people staying in apartments in the city, a drive was launched to rope in the Residential Welfare Associations. It was started at Z-1 Apartment, Nandan Vihar.
Additional CEO-cum-Additional Secretary, Home (Election) department, Satrughna Kar; Additonal District Magistrate, Khurda Manoj Kumar Padhy; Electoral Registration Officer-cum-Sub-Collector, Bhubaneswar Debabrata Sahu, Supervisors and BLOs along with the data entry operators participated in the drive.
The ECI had started Electors Authentication Programme (EAP) from August 1 to enable the electors to link their Aadhaar number (on voluntary basis) or any other document to the EPIC using Form 6B.
The voter can submit the form to booth levels officer (BLO) or do it online using Voter Helpline App or nvsp.in or voterportal.eci.gov.in in online mode. The objective of the programme is to purify the Electoral Roll and strengthen the health of the Electoral Roll by removing duplicate entries.
