Sacked OSSC Officer Was Selling Insurance Policies To Job Aspirants In Odisha: Vigilance SP

Bhubaneswar: The Vigilance, which is investigating into disproportionate assets of suspended OSSC official Biranchi Narayan Sahu, has found that he was selling insurance policies to the job aspirants.

Speaking to the media on Friday, Vigilance SP R Prakash said the preliminary investigation has revealed that Sahu was working for his wife who is an insurance agent. He had sold over 900 insurance policies to the people including the candidates for OSSC examinations since 2009.

On the admit cards recovered from Sahoo’s house, the SP said total 114 admit cards of candidates for Odisha Staff Selection Commission (OSSC) examinations for different jobs were found during the raids on July 30.

Of those, 107 candidates had not been selected for the jobs. Probe is going on into the rest candidates, he added.

It may be noted that the Vigilance sleuths had found Sahu in possession of 14 plots in Bhubaneswar, Khurdha and Puri districts, gold ornaments weighing 1.5 kg, insurance deposits of over Rs 56 lakh and Rs 12 lakh in cash during raid on Sahu’s residence in Bhubaneswar.

Following his arrest, Sahu, who was working as private secretary to a member of OSSC, was suspended.
