Mumbai: Actor Sai Pallavi narrowly escaped getting mobbed at the Cochin International Airport after being surrounded by a large crowd upon her arrival in Kerala.
The actor, who was in Kochi to attend the Filmfare South Awards over the weekend, had to rush to her car as repeated requests made by her and her team for space were largely ignored.
Videos of the incident, which have surfaced on social media and Reddit, show personnel from the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) urging the crowd to step back.
“Please move back, please move back. See, I don’t want to push you guys,” one of the officers can be heard saying in a viral video as photographers continued clicking pictures.
On noticing the crowd gathered outside the airport, Sai initially chose to stay inside the airport terminal. She eventually stepped out and tried to manage the situation.
“One minute, my car is there. I’ve got to go there,” she told the photographers.
On being asked to shift positions for better photographs, the actress responded firmly, “No, y’all can take pictures from here. Don’t push.”
Despite Sai’s repeated appeals, the crowd continued to move closer.
As soon as her car arrived, the actress rushed towards it while several photographers followed her, calling out “Ma’am, ma’am.”
Some even addressed her as ‘Malar Miss’, referring to her character in ‘Premam’.
The incident triggered sharp reactions online about celebrity safety in public spaces.
Sharing a video of the incident, a Redditor wrote, “What a social menace these morons are!”
“There should be some law against these morons,” wrote another.
One user pointed out, “They are predatory.”
Another wrote, “It’s genuinely unhinged behaviour.”
One person even compared the crowd to “Literally Zombies!”
Another joked, “Sai Pallavi was inspired by Shine Tom Chacko.”
