Saif Ali Khan Wanted Dessert After Angioplasty, Recalls Former Lilavati Hospital Dietician

Mumbai: Former Lilavati Hospital dietician Khyati Rupani shared in a recent interview with Ronak Kotecha a funny incident from the time when Saif Ali Khan was hospitalised for angioplasty.

Back in 2007, Saif was reportedly rushed to the Lilavati Hospital after suffering a mild heart attack due to over-exertion.

Rupani, who was monitoring the actor’s diet following the angioplasty, revealed that he wanted to have a dessert soon after the surgery.

“He was very particular about, ‘Why is there no dessert’?” the dietician recalled Saif saying.

“I told him, ‘You’ve just had an angioplasty, sir. I’m not going to…’ But we worked around it. I went to the kitchen and said, ‘Let’s not give him a regular dessert.’ So, we used to make custard and jelly,” she shared.

While talking about Saif’s health, the actor’s sister Soha Ali Khan had told Hindustan Times, “He returned from South Africa at 1:30 am and rushed straight to rehearsals. He had been working day and night.”

In January this year, Saif was again admitted to Lilavati following a knife attack on him at his Mumbai residence.

In the wee hours of January 16, an intruder broke into Saif’s house intending to carry out robbery and stabbed him multiple times, leaving him in a critical condition.

However, after undergoing multiple surgeries, the actor recovered and has also resumed work.
