Rourkela: The Steel Authority of India Ltd (SAIL) on Thursday formed a high-level committee to probe into the death of four contract labourers following the gas leakage in the Coal Chemicals department of the Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) on Wednesday.
The four-member committee to be headed by Executive Director of Bokaro Steel Plan Atanu Bhoumik has the chief general managers (CGMs) of the SAIL Headquarters, Kolkata, Bhilai Steel Plant (Chhattisgarh) and Durgapur Steel Plant (West Bengal) as members.
The committee will probe into the cause of the gas leak and the safety measures taken up by the RSP authorities.
The RSP has suspended three officials including two DGMs and an assistant manager of the plant for dereliction of duty.
