Bhubaneswar: More than 1,000 participants are expected in the 6th Sainik School-OMC Biju Marathon to be held on December 17.
The runners will include 600 SSB cadets, students from Sahodaya and government schools, former students of the organising school and their family members.
The participants will assemble at 5.30 am Gandhi Mini Stadium of Sainik School, which is the starting point, on December 17.
Sainik School Bhubaneswar principal Colonel Balu Bharath, OBA president Hardaman Singh, vice-president MS Padhi and secretary Cdr Dinesh Swain will flag off the Mini Marathon at 6 am in the presence of the Sainik School fraternity.
The route of the Mini Marathon will be — Gandhi Stadium, Sainik School, Sainik School Main Gate, turn right towards Mancheswar, turn left on reaching Railway Colony Road, towards OMFED Chhak, turn left towards NALCO-Kalinga Hospital Chhak, move towards Sainik School and terminate at Gandhi Stadium.
The Mini Marathon will cover a distance of 6 kms.
There will be different categories of the Marathon — class VI to VII, Class IX to XII, girl students, OBEANS and OBEAN family members.
OMC chairman DK Singh, Chief Guest for the closing function, will distribute the prizes.

The 53rd annual meet of Old Boys’ Association (OBA) of Sainik School Bhubaneswar will be held on December 24.
The 1998 pass-out batch will celebrate silver jubilee on this day, while the 1974 batch will mark golden jubilee on January 14, 2024.
A health camp, blood donation camp and a basketball match between Sainik School Cadets and OBEANS will be organised, as also cultural programmes by the cadets and orchestra.
