Salary Withheld, Colleges In Odisha’s Cuttack Risk Suspension Over ICC Compliance Report

Cuttack: The Cuttack district administration has ordered for halting salaries of staff of colleges, which have failed to submit status of international complaints committee (ICC) in their respective institutes.

Source said that 209 state-run and aided colleges in the district were asked to submit ICC compliance reports with details of complaints and actions in 48 hours following a directive from the Higher Education Department in the aftermath of the self-immolation death of a female student at FM College in Balasore.

However, only a few complied with the order.

“We had sought the reports to upload the details on the district website. I don’t have the exact number, but many colleges have not submitted the report. The sub-collector and ADM, who are president of their governing body, have been instructed to withhold the salary of the staff. Suspension order would follow if they fail to submit the report in the next 48 hours,” Collector Dattatraya Bhausaheb Shinde warned.

Sources further stated that this crackdown is part of a broader effort to standardise grievance redressal mechanisms in educational institutions across the state.
