Mumbai: Unfazed by the impending clash of ‘Sikandar’ and ‘L2 Empuraan’ at theatres, Salman Khan has sent best wishes to South superstar Mohanlal for his upcoming film.
The ‘Sikandar’ actor lauded the South film industry and said that ‘L2 Empuraan’ will be an excellent movie.
Lauding the South film industry, the Bollywood superstar said that they are technically advanced and emotionally evolved.
“I love Mohanlal sir as an actor. Prithviraj is directing it, and I know that it’s going to be an excellent film,” Salman told News18 Showsha.
Sending his best wishes for Sunny Deol’s ‘Jaat’, he said, “There’s Jaat also coming post Sikandar. I wish all of them do well.”
Asked about the South actors and their love for him, Salman said, “It’s really sweet of them. I’ve known Charan (Ram Charan) and Tarak (Jr NTR). They grew up in front of me. Most of them started doing films a year or two after I began my journey as an actor.”
Recollecting his friendship with Venkatesh Daggubati, Salman said, “I know Venky really well. We’ve worked together and have been friends for 30-35 years now. I know Chiru garu because I did a Thums Up commercial with him.”
He added, “I’ve worked with a lot of South actors. In fact, I was the first Hindi film actor from my generation to start working with South directors. I’ve worked with four-five South directors at one point in time.”
Sharing his views on comparison between Bollywood and South film industry, Salman said, “Technically, they’re very advanced, and emotionally, they’re very evolved. They don’t pick up ideas and stories from elsewhere. They conceive their own stories. Having said that, it’s not like all the films that they make in the South are good. In Bollywood, you only remember those films that work well at the box office. Wahaan bhi hafte mein 2-3 picturein banti hain but woh kuch khaas karti nahi hain. The mantra is the same everywhere. If you make good films, they’ll work.”
Meanwhile, director Prithviraj said that there’s no competition between ‘L2 Empuraan’ and ‘Sikandar’ and wished that the Salman starrer turns out to be a blockbuster.
He also referred to Salman as “one of the biggest stars of the country.”
Mohanlal’s ‘L2 Empuraan’ will hit screens on March 27, whereas Salman’s ‘Sikandar’ will release on March 30.
