Mumbai: After Salman Khan and Rashmika Mandanna’s ‘Sikandar’ bombed at the box office, director A.R. Murugadoss threw shade on the superstar for throwing tantrums during the shoot.
Taking a jibe at Murugadoss’ recent release ‘Madharaasi’, which also failed to impress the audience, Salman mocked by saying that the South film is bigger than ‘Sikandar’ and is a surely a blockbuster.
On Bigg Boss 19’s latest ‘Weekend Ka Vaar’ episode, Salman was joined by comedian Ravi Gupta as a guest.
When the comedian asked the superstar if he has regrets doing any film, Salman replied, “Nayi mein aisi koi nahi hai. Log kehte hain Sikandar, lekin main nahi maanta. (I have no regrets over any of my new films. People say I shouldn’t have done ‘Sikandar’, but I don’t agree.)”
He added, “Uska plot bohot accha tha. Lekin kya hai naa, ki main set pe raat ko 9 baje pohonchta tha. Toh usme gadbad ho gayi. Meri pasliyaan tooti thi. Jo humaare director sahab hain, unhone yeh kaha. Lekin unki picture abhi ek release hui hai, jisme actor 6 baje pohonchta tha.(The plot of Sikandar was very good. But, actually I used to reach the sets at 9 pm. Sp, everything got messed up. My ribs were broken. The director told all this. But, a new film of the director released recently. The hero of the film used to reach the sets by 6pm.)”
Salman continued, “Toh pehele toh yeh picture thi Murugadoss aur Sajid Nadiadwala ki. Uske baad Sajid pehele kalti, uske baad Murugadoss waapis se hatt gaya, wahan se seedha South picture. Madharaasi karke ek picture unhone direct ki hai. Jo ki release hui. Bohot badi film hai aur utni hi badi… Sikandar se badi. Lekin blockbuster, blockbuster. (First, there was a movie which was to be made by Sajid Nadiadwala and Murugadoss. Sajid withdrew from the project, then Murugadoss also quit. Then he went on to direct a South movie, Madharaasi. The film released recently. It’s a big film and it’s very big…..it’s bigger than Sikandar.. But, it’s a blockbuster., blockbuster…)”
Helmed by Murugadoss, ‘Madharaasi’, a psychological action-thriller in Tamil, starring Sivakarthikeyan, Rukmini Vasanth, Vidyut Jammwal, Biju Menon, Vikranth and Shabeer Kallarakkal, released in theatres on September 5.
Though the film managed to earn ₹100 crore globally, trade analysts criticised the film and termed it as an underperformer.
