Bhubaneswar: There has been an increase in saltwater crocodiles in Odisha.
The number of saltwater crocodiles has gone up to 62 at Satkosia this year, though the number of mugger crocodiles has gone down from 195 to 113.
The number of saltwater crocodiles spotted at Bhitarkanika, and Bhadrak district is 1830 — up from last year’s number of 1768.
At Simlipal, the population of mugger crocodiles has remained same at 80.
At Ghodahada in Ganjam district, number of crocodiles has gone up from last year’s 65 to 72, while gharial crocodiles have increased from 8 to 11.
