Sambalpur Police To Probe Thrashing Of Student In Residential School Hostel
Sambalpur: The Sambalpur police will probe the brutal thrashing of a Plus Two first-year student of a residential school by four students inside the school hostel.
The incident came to light when the student’s parents visited Vikash International School on Tuesday to meet their son. Upon not finding their son, they asked the hostel warden about his whereabouts. They were told that their son was undergoing treatment at the hospital inside the school campus.
The parents were shocked to see their son’s condition. He had multiple injuries on several parts of his body. When they asked him about the incident, he said he was talking to a girl, who is his relative, inside the school on Saturday when three first-year students and a second-year student called him up and asked why he was talking to a girl. “Though I told them that she is my relative, they did not listen to me. Later in the midnight, they came to my room and called me outside. Then they took me inside the toilet and severely beat me up with their waist belts, an iron rod and a steel pipe. I did not know what happened as I fell unconscious. After I regained consciousness, they gave me glucose water and again beat me up mercilessly. They also did the same to me on Sunday,” the boy told his parents.
After hearing their son’s ordeal, the parents lodged a complaint at the Sasan police station demanding exemplary action against the school authorities and the four students.
Talking to the media, the aggrieved father said it is most unfortunate that the principal of the school did not inform them about the incident and tried to hush up the matter. “Had we not visited the school today, we would not have come to know about the incident,” he added.
Talking to the media later in the day, Sambalpur SP, Kanwar Vishal Singh said a case has been registered at the Sasan police station. Police have given top priority to this case. The Additional SP will investigate the case.
