Hyderabad: Hours after ‘Pushpa’ actor Allu Arjun was arrested in the Sandhya theatre stampede case, the victim’s husband said he is ready to withdraw the case as he doesn’t hold the actor responsible for his wife’s death.
“We only went to Sandhya theatre that day because my son wanted to watch the movie. It’s not Allu Arjun’s fault that he visited the theatre that day. I am ready to withdraw my case. Police didn’t inform me of his arrest, I watched it on the news at the hospital. He (Allu) has nothing to do with stampede,” the deceased Revathi;s husband Bhaskar told reporters.
Following the arrest of Allu, Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy stated that the government has nothing to do with it.
“The government had no role in the case, and the law is taking its own course,” the CM said.
Bollywood actor Varun Dhawan came out in support of the ‘Pushpa’ star and stated that the woman’s death in the stampede was a tragedy and Allu Arjun can’t alone be blamed for it.
“The actor cannot take the sole responsibility of the safety protocols. You can only tell the people around you…The incident was tragic. I express my condolences but at the same time, you cannot blame only one person for this,” Varun said.
The Telangana High Court will hear the quash petition filed by Allu regarding his arrest.
On December 4, a day ahead of the release of ‘Pushpa 2: The Rule’, Allu paid a surprise visit to the Sandhya theatre to watch the premiere with his fans.
Unfortunately, the crowd at the theatre went berserk to catch a glimpse of the actor, resulting in a stampede which left the 35-year-old Revathi dead.
