Bhubaneswar: The sani-wall and QR Code for booking cesspool vehicle kicked off in five wards under three different zones of Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation on Monday.
Ward-wise information on sanitation and related issues will be displayed on a sanitation wall – Sani Wall (Swachha Kantha). This has been fixed in every ward office where all sanitation related information such as total households, total population, drinking water facility to the number of houses, number of families having toilet, number of CommunityToilet/Public Toilet/Hybrid Toilet, name and contact numbers of key personnel of that ward will be displayed.
The Sani-Wall will serve as a comprehensive information point on sanitation and related information, said Laxmikanta Sethi, Additional Commissioner who inaugurated the Sani Wall of Ward 57 at Badagada Kalyan Mandap. Ward No-03 and 09 under North Zone, Ward 23 and 52 under South West Zone and Ward 57under South East zone were inaugurated on Monday.
The QR Code at the centres is for generating demand for mechanical dislodging of septic tank. Once scanning of the QR code is done, a form will be displayed at the screen of the customer’s smart phone which need to filled and submitted. After submission it will be verified by single window forum member at BMC grievance cell and coordinate with households seeking the service.
After completion of the service the cesspool operator will collect money through POS machine and issue receipt to the household, said Suvendu Kumar Sahoo, Deputy Commissioner, Sanitation.
Centre for Advocacy and Research (CFAR) is mobilising the process of Sani Wall and QR code as a partner NGO of BMC, he added.
Zonal Deputy Commissioner SW Zone- Ravinarayan Jethi, Zonal Deputy Commissioner, North Zone – Purandar Nanda and Zonal Community Organizer, South West Zone – Pratap Pattanaik, Ward Officers concerned, sanitary Inspectors and CFAR representatives were present on the occasion.
The innovative step of BMC was launched on October 4 by Commissioner Sanjaya Kumar Singh.
