Bhubaneswar: Two persons, including a sarpanch, were arrested in Odisha’s Bargarh district on Sunday in connection with a road accident.
The incident took place on January 12, when a truck carrying sand hit Padmapur sub-collector Sneha Arugula’s car. Arugula was travelling to from Jagdalpur to Padmapur in Bargarh when her vehicle was hit by the heavy truck.
Bhainsadarha sarpanch Manoj Pradhan and his aide Azzahruddin Khan were arrested by Jagdalpur police in Bargarh following a complaint lodged by Junior Mining Officer Chandan Sahu.
The truck hit the sub-collector’s vehicle near Saraikela sand ghat at around 9.30 am on Monday.
Police had earlier taken the truck driver into custody and initiated a probe into the incident.
Six days later, the cops nabbed the Bhainsadarha sarpanch, who is the leaseholder of Saraikela sand ghat, and his aide.
“The probe is under way. The arrested sarpanch and his aide have been produced in a local court,” Jagdalpur police IIC Abhimanyu Durga informed.
