Savvy Odisha Police Says ‘Thank You’ With Emojis
Bhubaneswar: On World Emoji Day, Odisha Police made a rather adorable tweet thanking the citizens through emojis for following the ‘Rule of Law’.

We as citizens, would also like to show our gratitude for their relentless effort in keeping our city safe and free of crime.
On a lighter note, however, one of the emojis used by Odisha Police, also comes under the top 10 most used emojis globally.
Here are these top 10 emojis as published by Emojipedia:
1. Laughter with tears? – It is a yellow face with a big grin, uplifted eyebrows, and smiling eyes, each shedding a tear from laughing so hard. Widely used to show something is funny or pleasing. It was named the Oxford Dictionaries 2015 “Word of the Year” and was approved as part of Unicode 6.0 in 2010 and added to Emoji 1.0 in 2015.
2. Blowing a kiss?- It is an emoji face blowing a kiss, usually shown with one eye open and the other eye winking where heart is shown leaving the kissing mouth. It was approved as part of Unicode 6.0 in 2010 under the name “Face Throwing a Kiss” and added to Emoji 1.0 in 2015.
3. Heart eye?- A face with hearts instead of eyes, or Heart Eyes Emoji as it is generally known, it is used as an expression of love, for example: “I love you” or “I love this”. It was approved as part of Unicode 6.0 in 2010 under the name “Smiling Face With Heart-Shaped Eyes” and added to Emoji 1.0 in 2015.
4. Red Heart❤️- It is classic love heart emoji, used for expressions of love. Displayed in various shades of red on most platforms, a similar emoji exists for the heart suit in a deck of playing cards.
(Note: the Unicode character name “Heavy Black Heart” pre-dates color emoji, when the term referred to a solid, black black ❤︎ heart character.)
Red Heart was approved as part of Unicode 1.1 in 1993 under the name “Heavy Black Heart” and added to Emoji 1.0 in 2015.
5. Smiling face with smiling eyes ?- It is a yellow face with smiling eyes and a closed smile turning up to rosy cheeks and expresses genuine happiness and various warm, positive feelings. An emoji form of the ^^ emoticon, it has consistently been a top-ten most popular emoji in the late 2010s.
6. Loudly crying face?– It is a sad face with tears streaming down both cheeks. This face is distraught and inconsolable and not to be confused with the tears of joy emoji.
7. Grinning face with smiling eyes ?: It is a happy and smiling face with big open mouth, showing teeth. It differs only slightly from the Smiling Face With Open Mouth emoji by the fact that these eyes are emoji-style smiling eyes, instead of tall oval eyes.
8. Winking face ?- A yellow face with a slight, partially open smile and its left eye winking (right on WhatsApp), it signals a joke, flirtation, hidden meaning, or general positivity. The tone varies, from playful, affectionate, suggestive, or ironic. An emoji form of the 😉 emoticon, should not to be confused with the more mischievous or sexual ? Smirking Face.
9. Smiling face with sunglasses ?- It is a smiling face wearing dark sunglasses that is used to denote a sense of cool. The nerd face emoji is a similar face, but with regular glasses.
10. Grinning face with big eyes?– It is a face with smiling eyes and a broad open smile, showing upper teeth and tongue on some platforms. It conveys general happiness and good-natured amusement and is similar to ? Grinning Face but with but with taller, more excited eyes.
