Bhubaneswar: The State Bank of India (SBI) Foundation Thursday launched a mobile medical unit (MMU) to take healthcare services to the doorsteps of people in the rural areas of Kalahandi district.
The MMU was flagged off by Vikas Joe Madiath, Chairman Gram Vikas and Sanjay Prakash, Managing Director, SBI Foundation, from Bhubaneswar.
The MMU, SBI Sanjeevani, is part of the SBI Foundation’s flagship programme, Gram Seva, implemented in collaboration with Gram Vikas. Equipped with a dedicated medical team comprising nurses and support staff, the unit will provide primary healthcare services to people in remote and far-flung areas having limited access to medical facilities.
Speaking on the occasion, Sanjay Prakash said, “Gram Vikas has always strived to contribute to building a strong and developed rural India. Gram Seva is our key programme in this direction, wherein we have partnered with grassroots NGOs like Gram Vikas for the holistic development of people in remote villages across India.”
Liby Johnson, Executive Director of Gram Vikas, who was also present on the occasion said, “This initiative will significantly benefit rural communities residing in the distant and remote areas of the district by addressing their primary healthcare needs regularly.”
