From March 1991 till his elevation to the bench as a judge in the Punjab and Haryana High Court in 2007, he held the posts of Assistant Advocate General, Deputy Advocate General, Senior Deputy Advocate General and Additional Advocate General, in the office of Advocate General, Haryana. He was transferred to the Orissa high court and took oath on October 8, 2021.
