New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Tuesday ordered for withdrawal of all police complaints against migrant workers, who were booked for violating lockdown norms under the Disaster Management Act-2005 while attempting to return home from their workplaces.

Further, the apex court directed the Railways to arrange for Shramik Trains within 24 hours of receiving a request for the same to send them back home.

As per the order, the transportation of migrants should be completed within 15 days.

According to a report published in the TOI, the SC has asked the Centre and the state governments to give details of welfare schemes which can be availed by migrant workers both for food and basic needs as well as employment. It has also asked them to prepare a complete list of migrant workers who have reached their state and mention the work he was engaged in prior to lockdown.

They have been asked to specify schemes for the employment of these migrant workers post-lockdown.
