SC Dismisses Plea Of 6 States, NEET To Be Held As Scheduled

New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Friday dismissed the petition of the six opposition ruled states to review the order to conduct JEE-NEET examinations as scheduled earlier, reported the Times Of India (TOI).

On Friday, the Supreme Court gave a go-ahead to conduct the examination. A three-Judge Bench led by Justice Ashok Bhushan had considered the review petitions seeking postponement of the two entrance exams.

While JEE exams are already underway across the country, NEET is scheduled to be held on September 13.

Earlier, before the review, SC advocate Alakh Alok Srivastava had expressed hope that the medical entrance test will be postponed.

Leaders from six opposition ruling states, West Bengal minister Moloy Ghatak, Jharkhand minister Rameshwar Oraon, Rajasthan minister Raghu Sharma, Chhattisgarh minister Amarjeet Bhagat, Punjab minister BS Sidhu and Maharashtra minister Uday Ravindra Sawant had filed a review petition against the August 17 order of the SC allowing the exams to be conducted.
