Cuttack: Over 300 nurses of SCB Medical College and Hospital in
Cuttack launched a cease-work agitation on Thursday seeking
fulfilment of various demands including regularisation of jobs.
The agitators, who staged dharna before the Principal’s office, said
that they strongly object to the authorities’ apathy towards the contractual
nurses, who have been rendering seamless healthcare services since
long. They demanded that immediate steps should be initiated steps to
regularise all the contractual nurses and their grade pay be increased.
Meanwhile, three nursing staff, who were on strike since December 18,
fell ill at Mahatma Gandhi Marg this morning. They were demanding job
regularisation and enhancement of basic pay and grade pay of Rs 4, 600
for those who have worked for more than six years.
