SCB Medical College Expansion Work To Begin From March 1

Bhubaneswar:  Following the visit of the 5-T Secretary VK Pandian to the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack on Wednesday, the process for the expansion of the premier government hospital in Odisha has begun.

According to official sources, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will visit the SCB Medical College on Thursday for a detailed review of the proposed expansion work.

Mentioned below are the preliminary works to be undertaken before the commencement of the expansion work from March 1.

—The state government will acquire about 25 acres of land, including the land of some departments on the periphery of the SCB Hospital.
—Official residence of 13 senior doctors and professors and Class IV employees inside and outside the hospital premises will be demolished.
—The Revenue Divisional Commissioner (Central) and the Cuttack collector will submit a detailed proposal on the land acquisition by this evening.
—The process of land acquisition will be completed by February 28 while the expansion work will start from March 1.
—Single road connecting Taladanda canal embankment with SCB Medical College will be converted into a three-lane road.
—For the movement of the pedestrians, two over-bridges will be constructed along this route.
