Berhampur: A girl was critically injured after a school van fell into a roadside pond near Nuapada in Chikiti block in Ganjam district on Wednesday.
According to reports, the van carrying 24 students was on way to Margadarshi School at Nuapada when the driver lost control of the vehicle, which skidded off the road and fell into the pond.
Locals rushed to the spot and rescued the students and admitted the injured girl to the government hospital at Nuapada. She was later shifted to MKCG Medical College and Hospital in a critical condition.
The other students were not injured, the reports added.
