Bhubaneswar: The Jagatsinghpur administration in Odisha has ordered the closure of all educational institutions and Anganwadi centres on Monday, July 27, as a precautionary measure amid heavy to very heavy rainfall forecast by the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
According to an official order issued by the Collector office, all government, government-aided and privately managed schools at the elementary, secondary and higher secondary levels, including Odisha Adarsha Vidyalayas (OAVs), Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs) and all Anganwadi centres, will remain closed to ensure the safety of students.

The MeT office has warned of intense downpour in Odisha for two days as the Depression over northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas of North Odisha-West Bengal coasts is expected to intensify further into a deep depression during the next 24 hours and cross north Odisha and West Bengal coasts between Paradip and Sagar Island around forenoon/noon of July 27. Red warning of has been issued for six districts, including Jagatsingpur on July 26. Heavy to very heavy rainfall along with thunderstorm accompanied by lightning and gusty surface wind (50-60 kmph) may continue in the district on July 27.
Meanwhikle, severe waterlogging has been reported across several areas in Tirtol block of Jagatsinghpur district following an influx of floodwaters from the Mahanadi River. The inundation has affected a significant stretch extending from Lock Chhak Mundasahi to Manijanga.
