Schools in Jharsuguda, Balangir and Sambalpur will reopen on June 22 and they will have morning classes till June 24.
In Sundargarh, Sonepur, Bargarh and Nuapada, the classes will resume on June 23. Classes will be conducted from 6.30 am up to 10 am during these two days and at usual timings from June 26.
Notably, the state government had asked collectors of these seven districts to either switch to morning classes or extend holidays in view of the prevailing heatwave conditions.
Amid the IMD prediction of likely onset of southwest monsoon over Odisha by June 22, Bhubaneswar and Sambalpur were the hottest in the state at 42.1 degee Celsius on Tuesday while two other western Odisha towns – Jharsuguda and Titlagarh – recorded 42 degree. Hirakud registered 41.9 degree Celsius, Sonepur 41.8, Balangir 41.2 and Sundargarh 41 degree.
This year, due to severe heatwave conditions, the government had announced early summer vacation for schools in the state.
