Bhubaneswar: All government and government aided schools across Odisha will reopen on June 18 after summer vacation.
Official sources said the School and Mass Education department has issued instruction to all schools in this regard and directed them to make necessary preparations for the reopening of schools.
The notification specifies that all classrooms and toilets should be cleaned before the reopening of the schools. All preparations must begin a week before the reopening of schools.
Schools have been asked to ensure that drinking water supply and mid-day meal items are arranged beforehand. State and district-level inspection teams will visit the schools to ascertain that all cleaning works have been carried out.
Teachers, non-teaching staff, cooks and their assistants have been directed to join their duty a day before school reopens. The district education officers (DEOs) have been told to ensure all arrangements for mid-day meals for the students, smart classrooms and e-library with internet connections.
It may be noted that the state government had closed the schools for summer vacation from April 25, ahead of the scheduled summer vacation due to the severe heatwave conditions across the state.
As per the schedule, all schools would have opened on June 17 after the summer vacation. Since Bakr Eid will be celebrated on June 17, the reopening date of the schools has been postponed to June 18, said the notification of the department.
